Dunraven School Sports Hall

Innovative, sustainable, and eye-catching are just some of the words that have been used to describe the new sports hall at Dunraven School in South West London.

Designed and built in only three months by Container City, in collaboration with SCABAL Architects and Furness Engineering, the sports hall uses recycled shipping containers to create 8,208m3 of space that is used as a four court sports hall, viewing gallery, changing rooms and an office over two floors.

Commissioned by London Borough of Lambeth with funding from the 'Building Schools for the Future' scheme this innovative approach to building and commitment to sustainability was rewarded by being the 'Best Small Building Project' at the prestigious Building Industry Construction Awards in 2009.
