The Electric Hotel

About

Using recycled shipping containers for its structure, the Electric Hotel is a bold, innovative and sustainable performance venue... and possibly Britain's first multi-storey, moving Theatre.

Constructed by Container City and Fuel, Electric Hotel is a uniquely designed, fly-by-night hotel brought to vivid life through dance and sound by the team of David Rosenberg(director and co-founder of Shunt) and Frauke Requardt (choreographer, Pictures from an Exhibition at Sadler's Wells / Young Vic) with Bakur, JÃnsson (designer, Woyzeck at Barbican, Metamorphosis at Lyric Hammersmith).

With a nod towards 1920's Bauhaus Architecture, the 2,200 sq. ft, 4 storey building is clad to resemble an ageing concrete structure with asymmetric lines, exterior hand rails and a fully glazed frontage to allow visitors complete visual access.

The Electric Hotel toured to Norwich, Bristol, London and Brighton on various dates in May, June and July 2010.
